A NEW PLAY BY
  DAMIAN HOWELLS & JACQUELINE DAVIES

Directed By:  Nikki Cavill

Produced By:  Jacqueline Davies,  Damian Howells & Amanda Gaisford

After winning reality show 'The Next Big Thing' two years ago, Jen was 'bang on trend'.  She topped the charts, was a fashion icon and became a role model to teenage girls.  It hasn't been easy though, her fairytale marriage to a famous footballer is over and being number one in the charts is becoming a distant memory.
Jen's making a comeback with her reality show 'Still Jen' and can be top again, surely?  'Team Jen' think so and will do anything to make sure it happens. Nobody could be happier for her.

Could they?

Jen's parents Tom and Melissa are.  Well, they would be if they'd seen or even spoken to her lately.  They have their own problems to contend with anyway.  Jen's absence has accelerated the breakdown of their marriage and they're trying to get used to life apart.  Added to this their disillusioned nephew Matt has just left his big city job to come home to sort his life out.   He finds 'home' to be a totally different place and realises that in order to sort out his own life, he first has to sort Jen's.

When these worlds finally collide, will they bring happiness or even more trouble?

You need Flash Player in order to view this.
From the original play 'Bang on Trend'
For the first time since they split up, Melissa and Tom talk about their break-up and the reasons behind it

Alison 2

 Alison Cattle

Alison has been interested in acting ever since she can remember and has always had a particular fascination with the work of a certain Bobby De Niro.  She studied drama in school, completing school plays and has worked as an extra for both Welsh TV and film.

This is the second Amaline production that Alison has taken part in and has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the company, who produce fun filled scripts and a fun atmosphere to rehearse within.  She finds  it a joy to attend rehearsals after a hard day's work.  Alison is looking forward to bringing her character to life on stage, and hopes that she does her justice.

Mark
Amaline Theatre Productions
Mark Worrall

During his day-to-day work Mark can be found tearing his hair out at UWIC and finds that acting is the perfect release!!  He started acting a few years ago, working with Gest Training in Cardiff. Mark has been part of a couple of short films but found that it was the excitement of the stage that won him over.

Mark's first real experience of stage work was in Amaline's last production 'Kill Cameron' in which he played a rather eccentric, slightly camp character. He is looking forward to playing 'Provence' in 'Bang on Trend'.

Nicole 2
Amaline Theatre Productions
Nicole Smith

Nicole made her Amaline debut in 'Wedding Shots' playing a wedding party crasher. Since then she has played leading roles in 'The Training of the Shrews' and 'Kill Cameron'.

Nicole thoroughly enjoys being a part of  Amaline with its original plays produced by talented writers. She is very much looking forward to playing the character of 'Jen', a deluded pop star who will listen to anything to get to the top again.

Nicole is having lots of fun playing a bitchy celebrity, not to mention the hair pieces and costumes. She just hopes she can do the writers justice and ensure she is nothing like her character in real life!

Steve
Amaline Theatre Productions
Steve Maddern

Despite his belief in a total lack of talent, Steve became interested in theatre in his late 30’s, when he realised that he was never going to be a rock star or play for Cardiff City.

A stalwart of Maesteg Amateur Operatic Society’s pantomimes as the Dame and of various musicals, he was nominated for Best Actor in the 2009 ‘Glammies’ for his role as Lennie in ‘Of Mice and Men’ with Swansea Little Theatre.

Steve joined Amaline by appearing in ‘Kill Cameron’, and frankly, we didn’t have the heart to tell him not to come back.

Renata Medeiros
Renata is originally from Portugal but moved to Cardiff in 2006 to start a doctorate degree in seabird ecology, which she finished recently. Having dedicated herself almost exclusively to science for the last 10 years, she finally decided to give a chance to the old passion of being part of a theatre company and experience stage acting. She found in Amaline a very  friendly company with people of great talent that really help her engaging in her first ever acting experience, playing the part of the fragile and insecure Claire who has the ungrateful job of doing Jen's hair and makeup. I like 'Claire' very much and truly hope I can properly bring her to life - the fact that she tends to be a bit nervous most of the time, might be helpful!

Matt
Matt Large

This is Matt's first production with Amaline.
